Rabbi Elie Karfunkel

This past Wed, Rifky and I were driving to NY to participate in my grandmothers memorial Shloshim meal. Somewhere between Syracuse and Marathon NY a car pulled up parallel to us with mad people and arms flailing. Before I called 911 and said Shema I noticed that these people were none other than Shifra and Elisha Greenberg. How cute it was to be six hours away from 362 Spadina Road and be driving side by side with my neighbours from 354 Spadina Road. Moshe the leader of the Jewish people had many names. His adopted mother named him Moshe but our tradition has it that Moshe’s father Amram named him Chaver. Chaver means friend. I guess Amram knew that one of the qualities needed in a leader is the quality of being a good friend. Just the appearance of a friend puts a smile on your face. May we all strive to be that type of friend, and yes in case you are wondering after several truck arm motions from Shifra, I did honk my horn. Good Shabbos, Stay Jewish, Live Jewish.
