Summary |
This Shabbos is very special for many reasons:
1. It is called Shabbos Nachamu – the Shabbos of Consolation which is the Shabbos immediately following Tisha B’Av. It is considered a very happy time as we focus forward on good things to come
2. Our very own Rabbi & Rebbetzin have become grandparents! Mimi, their daughter, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this past Wednesday. The office pool is currently taking bets on the baby’s name as well as on what the proud grandparents will be called.
3. We have a very special guest Rabbi with us this week – Rabbi Heshy Kuhnreich. Rabbi Heshy has been involved in the outreach and education scene on Toronto for several decades and we very pleased and honoured that he can join us for this week.
Coming off the heels of Tisha B’Av, this week’s parsha has an incredibly inspiring message for us: regardless of what happens, we, the Jewish Nation, are a holy people to G-D. Our strength is not in numbers, rather HaShem has opted for quality over quantity. Much like a father to a son, HaShem tells us that His relationship to us is unshakable and that He will always love us and refers to us tenderly as His Am Segula – treasured nation.
Think about it – if Hashem is your father, that must make you pretty special too!
Have a great shabbos
