If we are going to take to task all the non-Jewish neighbours who allowed the Holocaust to happen, then likewise we need to publically praise and thank those few righteous among the nations who risked their lives to save us. It is in this vain that we acknowledge the passing of Sister Cecylia Roszak, a Polish nun who was believed to be the oldest nun in the world, and was recognized as a rescuer of Jews during the Holocaust. She was laid to rest on Thursday after dying last week at the age of 110. In 1984, Yad Vashem presented Sister Roszak with the Righteous Among the Nations award in recognition of her actions during the war. May her memory be a blessing for all the Jewish people who survived because of her actions. We hope that the Polish Government will be inspired by Sister Roszak, her actions and her convictions, and commit themselves to the appropriate, honest narrative of their role in the Holocaust.
